L.acidophilus (DDS-1) - A type of "friendly" bacteria that assists in the digestion of proteins, a process in which lactic acid, hydrogen peroxide, enzymes, B-vitamins, and antibiotic substances that inhibit pathogenic organisms are produced. Acidophilus has antifungal properties, helps to reduce blood cholesterol levels, aids digestion, and enhances the absorption of nutrients.
B.bifidum - A major part of the normal intestinal microflora. Gram-positive lactic acid-producing bacteria that constitute a major part of the normal intestinal microflora in humans. They play an important role in resistance to colonization against exogenous, potentially pathogenic organisms. For optimum "gut flora balance," the beneficial bacteria, such as the gram-positive Lactobacilli and Bifidobacteria, should predominate, presenting a barrier to invading organisms. Around 85% of the intestinal microflora in a healthy person should be good bacteria and 15% bad bacteria.
S.thermophilus
- A beneficial probiotic strain that has shown to
enhance digestibility, increase absorption of vitamins and minerals, and promote
intestinal lactose digestion. Health benefits of probiotics are being
investigated today at various medical and research centers and clinical studies
are accumulating, showing that specific probiotic bacteria can alleviate or
prevent diverse intestinal disorders and reduce the risk of some intestinal
diseases.
L. bulgaricus - The legendary
Bulgarian people living in the Balkan region of Eastern Europe are blessed with
long lives and good health. Many Bulgarians enjoy tremendous vitality and die
peacefully in their sleep. Over one hundred years ago, scientist and Nobel
Laureate, Eli Metchnikoff, discovered why so many Bulgarians lived well past 100
years of age with no serious medical problems.
• nutritious diet including large amounts of natural yogurt cultured by two
microorganisms Lactobacillus bulgaricus and Streptococcus thermophilus
(these microorganisms represent the world standard for classic yogurt culture
today).
L. bulgaricus is extremely proteolytic
(i.e., able to split proteins for easy digestion and absorption). When the
proper strain of L. bulgaricus is selected and grown in the appropriate medium,
are found it to be very effective for alleviating digestive problems such as
acid reflux and taming runaway appetite.
These friendly, helpful bacteria are
also recommended for:
• Overall support of good, indigenous gut flora,
• Inhibition of undesirable organisms,
• Enhanced digestion of milk products and other proteins,
• Production of natural antibiotic substances,
• Effective immune enhancement,
• Maximum effectiveness of waste disposal, and
• Colon cleansing without disrupting beneficial flora
