What is Hyaluronic acid?
Also known as Hyaluron, it's a clear fluid found throughout the body —
especially in connective tissues of the skin and joints.
What is its role?
Hyaluronic Acid acts both as an internal moisturizer and lubricant. It
moisturizes and rejuvenates skin, smoothes premature lines/wrinkles, as well as
lubricates and cushions joints.
How does it work?
Its primary function is the retention of moisture that allows internal fibers to
pass over each other smoothly, thus making tissues (such as skin) softer. Within
the joints Hyaluronic Acid is an essential part of cartilage and synovial fluid.
Do we maintain Hyaluronic Acid as we get older?
No. As we age our body produces less Hyaluronic Acid. Visible signs are dull and
wrinkled skin.
Is Hyaluronic Acid found in food?
Not really. Some is found in rare "starchy" root vegetables. But for all
practical purposes, taking a Hyaluronic Acid supplement is the best way to add
it to your diet.
Is there a difference between various supplement brands of Hyaluronic acid?
Yes, a major one. Most brands contain very large molecules of Hyaluronic Acid
that the body has difficulty absorbing. Only brands with a low molecular weight
