Will New Drugs Threaten Your Freedom of Thought?Have you ever thought about blocking painful memories from tormenting your mind? Maybe you would be content if someone else opted to do it for you. Experts said mind control has been becoming more clever with each passing subliminal marketing message. The foundation of our constitutional rights as U.S. citizens and freedom of thought have been the most valuable of our legal freedoms, yet the most underdeveloped. Types of neurotechnologies available include:
Experts stressed the importance of giving people the choice to take the mind-altering medication after a traumatic event. The example they cited was the victim of a crime who might not want to remember the details of the event, however may want to go to court to testify against their attacker. Potential coercion tactics in these neurotechnologies include:
There has already been a legal victory over mind-control drugs as follows:
Experts believe the freedom of thought should be controlled by the individual, not by the government. They also stated that individual cognitive freedom has become the largest civil rights issue of this century and their goal focused on rallying support from those who believe firmly in freedom of thought.
My Comment on this matter: This reminds me of a preview for an upcoming film I saw recently. Even Hollywood is catching on to this one. There are major moral and ethical issues surrounding this issue. Regulating this technology seems next to impossible. How would anyone know if only traumatic memories were erased? Perhaps the most invasive, or at least the most immediate, of these concerns is hypersonic sound used for ads. Right now, the company that invented the technology is installing it in soda machines on Tokyo's streets. As you walk past, you'll suddenly hear inside your head the sound of the ice cubes dropping into the glass and the soda making that "psst" can-opening noise. You will have no way to bypass the ad, and it will sound as though you are wearing headphones and the sound is coming from inside your head. Junk food ads are already targeting children and adults around the clock in TV commercials, food displays, vending machines and so on, but this new ad technique takes it even further--and is a complete violation of your personal space. I’m always one for new technology, however these ad tactics are only going to benefit corporations--aggressive and invasive soda ads will certainly not benefit humans. Further, drugs are not the answer to dealing with painful memories or events. There are many safe and effective techniques that you can use to do this, and one that I recommend you try is EFT, a gentle psychological acupressure technique. EFT is an effective way to help remove deeply rooted negative emotions and doesn’t have the dangerous side effects or ethical considerations of mind-erasing drugs.
