Epithelial tissues are widespread throughout your body. They cover all body surfaces—inside and out—and are major tissues of glands. Because epithelium covers organs, forms the inner lining of body cavities, and lines hollow organs, it always has a free surface—one that is exposed to the outside or to an open space internally. Unlike many tissues, you get to actually see a lot of epithelial tissue every day in your skin. In fact, your skin is the largest organ of your body so its epithelial tissues cover the most ground. Skin epithilium is truly your first line of defense against the outside physical world, creating a barrier like none other found in the body. But epithelial tissues go much deeper than what’s just out on the surface of your skin. Epithelial tissues encase your every part, including body cavities. They serve to protect, and they also perform other important duties, like secretion, absorption, and excretion. You can think of these tissues as windows and doors to your critical parts.
As a rule, epithelial tissues lack blood vessels. But they are nourished by substances that diffuse from underlying connective tissue, which are well supplied with blood vessels. Vitamin C (Ester C and Ascorbyl Palmitate): A lipid-soluble form of fast-action vitamin C that plays a role in many metabolic functions to improve immune function, maintain healthy skin, support collagen building for connective tissues, accelerate healing, reduce inflammation (including allergic reactions), and overall combat the aging process. A powerful antioxidant, vitamin C is your sharpest weapon against free radicals—those unstable molecules created in the body every day by metabolic, detoxification and immune system functions, but which lead to disease and aging. Best of all, Vitamin C combats arterial aging—the natural breakdown of your heart and blood vessels as a result of age. As ascorbyl palmitate, this advanced version of vitamin C is sure to reach those epithelial tissues, whereas general ascorbic acid cannot. Plus it’s non-acidic so it’s gentle on your stomach.
Sternal Chicken Collagen Type II and Hydrolyzed Bovine Dermal Collagen: Two superior collagen products that help maintain healthy cartilage tissue and nutritionally support joint function. Hyaluronic Acid (HA): A modern fountain of youth for its superior protective actions in the joints. L-Lysine and L-Proline: Two amino acids, one of which (lysine) is essential so you must get it from dietary sources. These two protein building blocks are indispensable to building collagen. In fact, about 25 percent of collagen consists of lysine and proline. And they are pivotal to a host of other metabolic functions as well. The daily requirement of lysine, in particular, surpasses that of all other amino acids.
